Ode To Our Soldiers Mural Unveiling

Last week, artworxLA joined Councilman Curren D. Price Jr., Patrick Henry Johnson and our U.S. Veterans for the unveiling of "Penta-Loom: Ode to Our Soldiers" mural and square dedication of Benjamin J. Bowie American Legion 228. The mural pays tribute to the many servicemen and women of South Central Los Angeles.

Muralist Patrick Henry Johnson and artworxLA Alumni Alfredo Alvarado shared their creative experience in producing the large-scale mural dedicated to fallen African American heroes. Councilman Curren D. Price, Jr., Union Bank, and the Department of Cultural Affairs supported the creation of the mural.

We have Raised over $50K with your support!

Dear artworxLA supporters, Thanks to you all, we did it! We raised $55,700 during our Annual Fund campaign for 2015/2016, exceeding our goal of $50,000. Artists, teachers, community leaders, supporters old and new - you've all placed faith in what is possible when creativity engages youth to stay in school and on track to graduate. We are overjoyed by the encouragement and incredible generosity of our community. Why was this an important goal? The Annual Fund campaign raises critical funds to support artworxLA's teachers, staff, programming efforts, artist supplies, and infrastructure. We enter 2016 strong, with amazing supporters, and a powerful vision for delivering arts education to those who need it the most: students like Jonathan, Cecilia and Jose. Watch their stories today, and share widely. You helped make their success possible. Ceci jon jose

artworxLA's 24th Annual Gala is a Success!

On May 5th, a powerful community of committed individuals gathered at the Taglyan Cultural Complex and helped us raise over $260,000 to support our programs. This spectacular event, led by Gala MC and artworxLA Alumni Vincent Avila, helped us honor LA County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, CEO of HelloGiggles Sophia Rossi, and Architect and artworxLA Board Member Grant Kirkpatrick. We thank them for their tireless efforts in supporting the arts and celebrate their commitment to artworxLA.

Thanks to everyone who came to support us doing our 24th Annual Evening of Art. We look forward to seeing each of our guests next year as we reach another amazing milestone to celebrate 25 years of success during our 25th Annual Evening of Art.
