Kelman Duran is a Los Angeles based artist and curator who was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in Washington Heights, NY. His work is informed by counter-histories that deal with power and political exclusion. He received his MFA from California Institute of the Arts, Los Angeles and was the Resident Curator at Otras Obras, Tijuana, Mexico in 2013. Duran’s work has been shown at LACMA, REDCAT, Echo Park Film Center and Human Resources in Los Angeles; Viennale Film Festival, Vienna;Split Film Festival, Croatia; Zinebi, Bilbao; Sensory Ethnography Lab at Harvard University, Cambridge. He is currently on the programming committee for Human Resources, an art space in Chinatown, Los Angeles.
