Let's Make a Meal Tableau with Vanessa

Let’s Create a MeaI in a Three Part Tableau!

Workshop Coordinator Vanessa will have you thinking about nourishment in terms of a three part tableau. So let’s create a meal that contains a beginning, middle and end.

Now that we’ve set and hopefully achieved our morning goals, let’s think about nourishment. Food! Has meal preparation become a challenge for you, or your family? Have you never baked a cake and are willing to take the risk and try now that you may have more time? Are you suddenly interested in the actual preparation of food? Do you like to cook? Perhaps not! Maybe you enjoy ordering food or picking up take-out. Are you seeking food for nourishment or is it purely comfort? As you ponder these questions, be thinking in terms of a three part tableau.

INSTRUCTIONS :

Create a meal that contains a beginning, middle and end. Whether it be cooking in your kitchen, doing curbside pickup, or delivery, the choice is yours.

  1. Establish your location/s.

FOR EXAMPLE: In your car for pickup or standing over your stove reading a recipe.

  2. Establish your frozen image. The position of your body and your facial expressions can be crucial.

FOR EXAMPLE: Opening the car door or stirring the pot.

  3. Identify your props.

FOR EXAMPLE: Your car keys or a heavy take-out bag.

  4. Select costumes and/or make-up.

FOR EXAMPLE: Are you in your robe driving to get take-out or are you having a nice Zoom dinner and want to dress fancy?

REFLECTION :

Along with establishing these tableau components, write a short dialogue phrase for each one. Think about your thoughts, emotions, conversations, or music listening that are happening in that given moment.

EXAMPLE :

Here’s my example of a three part tableau meal!

FRIDGE

“I guess I could’ve done this in two trips. Hey mom? Can you come help me?”

PREPPING

You can never have too much parmesan cheese! Gimme all the parm!

EATING

Gotta get these greens down. Banana split on the way!

Now it’s your turn! Have a good time!
