Thank you so much for joining us at our special reception last night at Knoll Home Design Shop! Photos from the evening are now available on our Instagram and Facebook.
A sumptuous array prepared especially by The Kitchen for Exploring Foods greeted us at the front entrance, with tempting artisanal cheeses, chevre and pesto sauce, and fresh seasonal vegetables. Sauvignon blanc in hand, we browsed select artwork and items from the silent auction. Many of you donated right on the spot either through mobile donations or bids on our auction items.
As we mingled, artworxLA Executive Director Shelby Williams-Gonzalez and artworxLA Board Member Erik Perez shared the work we do to address the imbalance in educational and creative opportunities for L.A. youth. Funds raised last night will help us provide arts education programming to over 1,000 alternative high school students in L.A.
We are so grateful to you and look forward to continue to help our students build pathways towards high school graduation and beyond.
We hope you will consider students like our recent alumna Yaretssi as you plan your end-of-year gift. After rekindling her childhood passion for embroidery, Yaretssi began to use the creative skills she developed at artworxLA to auction and sell her work. Of her experience, Yaretssi shared, “Art has been pretty big in my life. I just didn’t know how to develop it. No one really knew that I was into art until artworxLA.”
