Learning from London James at Sole Folks

On Saturday, February 18th, artworxLA Advanced Programs Students and alumni celebrated Black History Month with a visit to Sole Folks in Leimert Park Village! Our lead instructor, London James, broke down her sneaker mold-making process and shared some tips and tricks for students to create their own air-dry fridge magnets to take home. Guests joined us throughout the day, even showing us how to 3-D scan our pieces and upload them to the Metaverse. Thank you so much to London, Kenya, Akil, Roman and the rest of the Sole Folks staff for the wonderful time!

This week in creativity: illustration with Jenna Gibson

Our Advanced Programs students have spent the last several weeks learning from ArtCenter College of Design instructor Jenna Gibson in our Illustration Residency. Working closely with Jenna, our students are exploring the fundamentals of drawing, color theory, and more. The residency will culminate with our students developing designs for clients as they discover more about the business of illustration. Scroll to see the wonderful works they've created.
