Cynthia Starts Sabbatical!

artworxLA wishes our courageous leader Cynthia Campoy Brophy a wonderful break as she begins her 3 month sabbatical, made possible by the generous support of the Durfee Foundation. Cynthia will be taking time to rest, reflect, and rejuvenate.

After founding artworxLA, formerly The HeArt Project, in 1992, Cynthia Campoy Brophy has worked tirelessly to address the lack of arts education programs for Los Angeles teenagers. By cultivating relationships with county leaders, foundations, and cultural partners, Cynthia has grown artworxLA into a program which provides arts education to more than 650 alternative high school students most at risk of dropping out of high school.

During her sabbatical period, artworxLA's Artistic Director Shelby Williams-Gonzalez will serve as Interim Executive Director. Shelby has been with artworxLA for seven years, starting as a Workshop Coordinator and advancing to her current role leading our arts program. We are confident that she will share Cynthia’s aptitude and enthusiasm for providing arts education to our students.

All of us at artworxLA wish Cynthia a wonderful summer. We look forward her return in October 2014!
