Students Make Beats at HMAA

Last week, Dave Hillel from Ableton dropped by The Hollywood Media Arts Academy to lead a 2-hour beat making workshop. During the hands-on session, Dave helped demonstrate the powerful software and intuitive hardware instrument Push, along with other midi controllers. The workshop is building on Teaching Artist Javad Butah's 11-week music theory, music production, and performance class. The hands-on visit enabled our students to deepen their knowledge of music and build their understanding of the technical software used to produce musical scores.  For many of the students, the class and workshop is their first exposure to making music both through instruments and through a computer. Listen to some of their tracks at www.soundcloud.com/artworxla.
