Women Paint L.A.

Join artworxLA Teaching Artist and muralist Kristy Sandoval for a panel discussion among female muralists. Hosted by our 2018-19 cultural partner, The Natural History History Museum, this panel discussion will also feature Los Angeles muralists Barbara Carrasco and Noni Olabisi for a conversation with historian Denise Sandoval as they talk candidly about their work in L.A.

About The Event:
Murals have the power to stop people in their tracks, immortalize a location, and command attention. They not only adorn public spaces, but have the ability to communicate important messages on a larger platform. In Los Angeles, women muralists create work that reflects their lives, lived experiences, and also the diversity of their audiences. This discussion explores how women artists shape the cultural production of the city while paving the way for more unique stories, perspectives, and discussions.
